Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, in His shed blood and resurrection, not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9;  Hebrews 11:6). We are justified by faith, through repentance and remission of sins (Luke 24:47, 1 John 1:9, Romans 5:1,9). All sinners must believe and obey the gospel; we are commanded to repent from our sinful life, be baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ, and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38; 4:12; 8:12-17; 10:43-48; 19:1-6). Faith and obedience work together in God’s grace to reconcile us to Himself (Acts 16:31-34). A Christian must walk with God and keep himself in the love of God (Jude 21). When a person transgresses and sins against God and does not repent, he will eventually be lost and cast into the lake of fire. (See John 15:2, 6; 2 Peter 2:20-21.) Jude speaks of the backsliders of his day, and their reward. (See also Hebrews 6:4-6.)
